Description: This Fine Baseball Lithograph titled "The Splendid Splinter", was originally commissioned in 1988 at a very limited run of only 406 prints (Williams last batting average over .400). It was a complete sellout. A gorgeous, full color image of Williams in several poses, illustrated by famous sports artist Christopher Peluso and boldly signed by perhaps the greatest all-around hitter of all time: Ted Williams. Williams signature is a perfect 10-10, signed in the center bottom margin and is very bold, dark with no smudging whatsoever. The piece is also signed by the artist in lower right corner. Both signatures are in pencil so they will not fade over time, unlike most ink. This print is in Near Mint condition, just as it came off the printing press. The Lithograph measures full 18 x 24 inches and is printed on heavy, 100% acid-free archival paper. A stunning piece. This item should only rise in value due to the very limited amount of pieces produced, the beauty of the artwork and the fact that it is signed by a true Baseball Hall of Fame Legend. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from the producers of the print: 100% Guaranteed Authentic. This was one of several Fine Lithographs produced featuring Great Sports Legends including Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Joe Montana, and Muhammad Ali. This particular Litho is one of the only few and very rare color remarques that features original artwork on in the bottom margin by artist Peluso. |
